1 year of Hiking in Pack 771

We have been hiking as a pack now for 1 year.  The boys have hikes 203 miles combined.  We’ve been on the trail in the blazing heat, in the dark, and in the freezing cold.   We’ve hiked into a cold front and back, we’ve fallen, gotten back up and hiked some more.

We’ve seen all sorts of wildlife, learned about identifying trees, and perhaps most importantly, we know what poison ivy looks like.

We’ve hiked up hills, across wetlands, in river bottoms, through prairies, and sometimes down sidewalks.  Near rivers, creeks and lakes, we love being outdoors.  We enjoy being part of nature for a while.

As we start the second year of hiking in the pack, here are the totals for the boys so far:

As you know, we award the boys with patches marking their miles, and at 50 miles, the boys receive a handmade hiking stick.  We hiked over 30 miles this past year, therefore it is easy for any scout to earn a hiking stick with the pack.

Please come out and join us, we have some great hikes planned ahead.
