Cedar Hill Night Hike

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/cedar_hill/

Saturday, August 27th, meet at 7:45pm, hike begins at 8:00pm.
Duck Pond Trail at Cedar Hill State Park.

Hiking the Duck Pond Trail, this hike will cover 1 mile and will run from twilight until after dark.
It is hot in August, and most of the animals in our area are active after dark this time of year.   We’re going to be counting “eyes” we can spot from the trail.  Whether it be raccoons, armadillos, skunks, or opossums, we should be able to see a few.
Flashlights will be a requirement for each hiker (parent and scout) and headlamps are recommended if you already have one.
We will meet at the parking lot in the park on West Spine Rd, near the coordinates of 32.616313,-96.981392. at 7:45 PM and will begin our hike at 8:00 PM.  Sunset in North Texas is 7:58 this day.  Again, remember your flashlights along with your water and trail snacks for this one.

Cost is $5 per adult to enter the park (unless you have a Texas Park Pass), and kids under 13 are free.

A Hiking Success.

What a great day for hiking!  6 scouts from our pack made it out to Cedar Ridge Preserve for a fairly challenging hike (just ask some of the adults).  We did 3 miles total  in just under 2 hours.

Our elevation gain totalled 1,132 feet (this is with several up and downs)  not too bad for Texas.

With this hike, it brings our top hikers up to 8 miles total since we started the group.

We would love to have you along for the next one.
